The Henley Passport Index 2022 ranks 199 passports based on their access to 227 different travel destinations.
The data is based on the number of destinations a passport holder can access without a prior visa. The index is based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
For a travel destination, if no visa is required for a passport holder from a territory or if a passport holder can obtain a visa on arrival, a visitor’s permit, or an electronic travel authority (ETA) when entering the destination, then a score of 1 is given to the passport.
Where a visa is required, or where a passport holder has to obtain a government-approved electronic visa (e-Visa) before departure, a score of 0 is assigned to the passport.
