Russia has now become the most sanctioned country in the world.
According to Castellum.AI, the total number of sanctions on Russia (as of 10/March) stood at 5,748. The first set of fresh sanctions on Russia were placed on 22/Feb when President Putin recognised the two Ukrainian rebel regions of Donetsk and Luhansk as "independent states".
More sanctions were imposed on Russia after its military invaded Ukraine on 24/Feb. 2,754 were already in place on Russia before 22/Feb and an additional 2,994 sanctions were imposed in the following days (Total=5,748 as of 10/March/2022).
