The projections above are based on scenarios for 1 minute of scrolling through the news feed of various mobile applications.

According to the Global Web Index (July 2021), a social media user spends an average of 2 hours and 24 minutes on social networks.

The average carbon footprint of 10 applications is equal to 1.15 gEqCO2 for 60 seconds of use, which is 165.6 gEqCO2 per day for a user.

This carbon impact is almost equal to a distance of 1.4 km in a light vehicle. It also corresponds to 60 kgEqCO2 per user per year, or the equivalent of 535 km travelled in an average light vehicle in France.
