Taiwan tops the 2021 list for the best places for expats for the third year in a row (total 59 countries), followed by Mexico in the Expat Insider 2021 survey.

Taiwan does well in most sub-indices with: job security at 83%, the state of the local economy 85%, 96% of expats rate the quality of medical care positively and 94% are satisfied with its affordability.

Mexico is placed at the 2nd spot. It is rated the best country for expats in the Ease of Settling In Index (1st): 85% find it easy to settle down in Mexico, and 78% say it is easy to make local friends. 80% are satisfied with their financial situation, and 90% say their disposable household income is enough or more than enough to cover their living expenses.

Kuwait is placed at last place for the seventh time in eight years. The country ranks last in the Quality of Life Index (59th) along with the Ease of Settling In Index (59th) and 56th in the Working Abroad Index.

India is placed at the bottom of the list with an overall rank of 51.

The Expat Insider 2021 survey was conducted by InterNations between 7 & 31 January 2021. The target audience included all kinds of expats i.e. employees sent on a corporate assignment abroad and international hires to self-made expats relocating for a better quality of life and a variety of other reasons.

A total of 12,420 expats participated in the survey, representing 174 nationalities and living in 186 countries/territories.
